How It Works

There are 2 different ways to connect with a veterinarian on Airvet: Requesting a call and on-demand calls.

Requesting A Call

Call requests should be used when you need to connect with your own primary vet ONLY. Using this option, you’ll request a callback from your vet and after adding in the reasons for your call along with any pictures or notes you want to add, your vet will call you back. To do this, simply select your pet on the home screen and tap “Request a Call” on the top right of the next screen. Use this for all re-checks, follow-ups, post-ops, getting lab results, and any other non-urgent matters.

On-Demand Calls

On-demand calls are typically used after-hours or when you need help right away! To start an on-demand call and connect immediately with the first available vet (which may or may not be your own vet), select your pet, select any symptoms, and tap the “Start Video Call” button on the bottom.

Chatting With Your Vet

Each time you do any type of call on Airvet it opens a case, which stays open for 72 hours. During these 72 hours, if you have any additional questions or want to check in with the vet after your call, you can chat with him/her by tapping on the blue chat icon, which you’ll find on the bottom right corner of your case screen.

Telemedicine FAQs

Do not use this service if you feel your pet is experiencing a medical emergency, such as respiratory distress, seizures, profuse bleeding, or other potentially life-threatening conditions. In these cases, immediately take your pet to a veterinarian or local emergency care facility. Click here for our recommended emergency hospitals.

  • General health and medical questions both big and small (no judgement here!)
  • When you’re wondering if a certain issue is worth an in-person visit
  • After hours when the hospital is closed and you need a licensed veterinarian (not Dr. Google or a social media group) to help you understand if a situation requires an emergency visit or if it can wait until normal business hours
  • Behavioral or nutritional questions or concerns
  • Basic follow-ups after an in-person visit for recent surgeries, treatments, or illnesses
Based on observations during the virtual visit, we may still need to see your pet in the hospital.
During a virtual visit, our veterinarians can only dispense medical advice, diagnose issues, prescribe treatment or medications if we have a current Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR). This is the law, and it’s good medicine. This means we have physically seen your pet within the last year as a patient within our hospital.

This relationship is specific to the pet for whom you’re scheduling the virtual visit, and not another pet in the household. If we don’t have a current VCPR with you and your pet, we can still schedule a virtual visit, but we will be limited as to the advice we can dispense.

Virtual appointments are not a substitute for your pets’ regular wellness visits to our office. We need to physically see your pets so we can weigh them, listen to their heart and lungs, look in their ears and eyes, check their mouths, palpate their abdomen and joints, etc. We can’t do these things online.

Your friends at Angels Camp Veterinary Hospital look forward to continuing to bring you the latest innovation in veterinary technology to ensure we are always providing the best and most accessible care to you and your furry family.
